Sanitary land fill

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010513

A method of solid waste disposal where refuse is buried in layers, compacted, and covered with soil or other materials at the end of each day or more frequently. This engineering approach aims to minimize environmental hazards by containing waste and preventing the spread of disease. Modern sanitary landfills are designed with liners and leachate collection systems to protect groundwater.
