Fill factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004416
The ratio of a solar cell's maximum power output to the product of its open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current, a dimensionless number below 1 that reflects how square the current-voltage curve is. Series and shunt resistance losses pull it down. Commercial silicon cells reach roughly 0.78 to 0.83, and the best laboratory silicon cells about 0.85.
