Polysilazane
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009237
A polymer containing a backbone of alternating silicon and nitrogen atoms, with organic side groups attached to silicon. These preceramic polymers are synthesized through the ammonolysis or aminolysis of chlorosilanes. Upon pyrolysis at high temperatures, polysilazanes convert into silicon nitride or silicon carbonitride ceramics, which possess excellent high-temperature strength, hardness, and chemical resistance.
