Polycarbosilane
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013412
A polymer characterized by a backbone composed of alternating silicon and carbon atoms. These materials are often synthesized through the thermal polymerization of chloromethylsilanes or other organosilicon precursors. Polycarbosilanes serve as precursors for silicon carbide ceramics, which are known for their high strength and thermal stability at elevated temperatures.
