Polyphosphazene
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009227
A polymer featuring a backbone composed of alternating phosphorus and nitrogen atoms, with two substituents attached to each phosphorus atom. These polymers are synthesized through the ring-opening polymerization of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene, followed by nucleophilic substitution of the chlorine atoms. Polyphosphazenes are known for their thermal stability, flame retardancy, and biocompatibility, finding applications in biomedical materials and high-performance elastomers.
