Inorganic polymer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005889

A polymer whose backbone consists primarily of inorganic elements, rather than carbon atoms. These materials often exhibit properties distinct from organic polymers, such as high thermal stability, flame resistance, and unique electrical or optical characteristics. Examples include polysiloxanes (silicones) and polyphosphazenes, which find applications in high-performance materials and biomedical devices.
