Organic-inorganic polymer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008314

A polymer or polymer network whose backbone consists only of carbon atoms but whose side groups include inorganic components, such as pendant ferrocene units, metal complexes or silsesquioxane cages. It is distinguished from an inorganic polymer, whose backbone has no carbon atoms, as in polysiloxanes and polyphosphazenes, and from an inorganic-organic polymer, whose backbone mixes inorganic and organic units.
