Organically-modified ceramic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008313
A hybrid material that is a crosslinked inorganic-organic polymer, in which inorganic and organic parts are joined by stable covalent bonds. It is usually built from alkoxysilanes carrying organic groups, from functionalized organic polymers, or from both, and is prepared by sol-gel processing. Ormocer is a registered trademark for this class of materials.
