Ceramer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001804
A hybrid organic-inorganic material in which inorganic oligomers are chemically incorporated into an organic polymer network or an organic polymer is incorporated into a ceramic matrix. These materials combine properties of both ceramics, such as hardness and thermal stability, and polymers, such as flexibility and processability. Ceramers are distinct from simple physical blends, as they involve covalent or ionic bonding between the organic and inorganic phases.
