Gel

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004791

A soft, viscoelastic material consisting of a cross-linked polymer network swollen by a liquid medium. The network provides structural integrity, preventing the liquid from flowing freely, while the liquid fills the interstitial spaces. Gels can be formed from synthetic polymers or natural biopolymers and exhibit properties between those of a solid and a liquid.
