Polymer-derived ceramic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009192
A ceramic material produced by the pyrolysis of a preceramic polymer precursor. The polymer is cross-linked and then heated to high temperatures in an inert atmosphere, converting it into an inorganic ceramic with a specific microstructure. These ceramics often exhibit high thermal stability and mechanical strength.
