Polymerase chain reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009191
A laboratory technique used to amplify a specific segment of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) to produce millions of copies from a single template. This process involves repeated cycles of denaturation, annealing of primers, and extension by a DNA polymerase enzyme. It is a fundamental tool in molecular biology for genetic analysis, diagnostics, and research.
