Amplification reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000523
A reaction substituted for the conventional reaction of a determination in order to give a more favourable measurement, as when each analyte molecule yields many molecules of a measurable product. The sequence may be repeated to multiply the effect further. Examples range from catalytic and enzymatic cycles to the polymerase chain reaction, which copies a DNA sequence.
