Amplitude modulation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000524
A technique where the amplitude of a high-frequency carrier wave is varied in proportion to the instantaneous amplitude of a lower-frequency modulating signal. The frequency and phase of the carrier wave remain constant. This method is used to encode information onto electromagnetic radiation for transmission, such as in radio broadcasting and certain spectroscopic techniques.
