Organically modified silica

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008312

A hybrid material consisting of a silica network that has been chemically modified by the incorporation of organic groups, either covalently bonded to the silicon atoms or entrapped within the silica matrix. This modification alters the surface properties and bulk characteristics of the silica. It is often prepared via sol-gel processing using organosilane precursors.
