Silanols
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010858
Organic compounds containing one or more hydroxyl groups directly bonded to a silicon atom. They are the silicon analogues of alcohols and possess similar acidic properties, though generally weaker than carboxylic acids. Silanols are key intermediates in the synthesis of silicones and are involved in surface chemistry processes on silica.
