Thiocarboxylic acids
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012010
Organic compounds that are sulfur analogues of carboxylic acids, where one or both oxygen atoms of the carboxyl group are replaced by sulfur. They can exist as thiolic acids (R-CO-SH) or thionic acids (R-CS-OH), or dithioic acids (R-CS-SH). These compounds are generally more acidic and have lower boiling points than their oxygen counterparts.
