Solar cell

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010976

A device that converts light energy directly into electrical energy through the photovoltaic effect. It typically consists of semiconductor materials, such as silicon, that absorb photons and generate electron-hole pairs, creating an electric current. The efficiency of a solar cell is measured by the percentage of incident light energy converted into electrical energy.
