Semiconductor detector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010724
A radiation detector that uses a semiconductor material to convert incident radiation into an electrical signal. When radiation interacts with the semiconductor, it creates electron-hole pairs, which are then collected by an electric field to produce a measurable current pulse. These detectors offer high energy resolution and are widely used in gamma and X-ray spectroscopy.
