Diffused junction semiconductor detector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003190
A type of semiconductor radiation detector created by diffusing dopant impurities into a semiconductor material to form a p-n junction. When radiation interacts with the detector, it creates electron-hole pairs, which are then swept apart by an electric field across the depletion region, generating a measurable current pulse. These detectors are commonly used for detecting charged particles and gamma rays.
