Depletion layer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013028
A region within a semiconductor material or at a semiconductor-electrolyte interface that is depleted of mobile charge carriers. This layer forms due to the diffusion of charge carriers across a junction, leaving behind immobile ionized dopant atoms. The width of the depletion layer is influenced by factors such as doping concentration and applied bias voltage.
