Redox doping
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010038
A treatment that oxidizes or reduces the chains of a conjugated polymer, by a chemical reagent or at an electrode, so that mobile charge carriers such as polarons and bipolarons form on the backbone. Counter-ions from the dopant or the electrolyte balance the charge. Conductivity rises by many orders of magnitude, but it climbs steeply and then levels off as the doping level increases, not in direct proportion to it.
