Dopant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013047
A substance added in small quantities to a polymer to modify its electrical, optical, or other physical properties. In the context of conducting polymers, a dopant typically creates charge carriers within the polymer matrix, increasing its electrical conductivity. This process can involve either oxidation (p-doping) or reduction (n-doping) of the polymer backbone.
