Bipolarons

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001343

Quasiparticles formed in conducting polymers or other materials when two polarons combine, resulting in a localized distortion of the lattice and a trapped pair of charges. This pairing leads to a spinless, doubly charged entity that can move through the material. Bipolarons are often invoked to explain the electrical conductivity in doped conjugated polymers.
