Surface excess conductivity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011642
The additional electrical conductivity observed at an interface or surface compared to the bulk phase. It arises from the accumulation or depletion of charge carriers in the interfacial region. This phenomenon is particularly relevant in colloidal systems and at semiconductor surfaces, where charge distribution differs from the interior.
