Diffuser

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013038

A device with a porous barrier, such as a fritted glass plate, used to break a gas stream into fine bubbles within a liquid. This action greatly increases the surface area for gas-liquid contact, promoting efficient absorption or chemical reaction. Diffusers are used in atmospheric chemistry for scrubbing gases from an air sample into a collecting solution for analysis.
