Plate number
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009029
A dimensionless measure of the efficiency of a chromatographic column, representing the number of theoretical plates in the column. A higher plate number indicates a more efficient column, resulting in better separation of components. It is calculated from the retention time and peak width of a component.
