Separation number
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013547
A measure of the separation efficiency of a chromatographic column, representing the number of peaks that can be resolved between two adjacent n-alkanes differing by one carbon atom. It quantifies the column's ability to distinguish between closely eluting compounds. This value is calculated from the retention times and peak widths of the reference n-alkanes.
