Photodiode
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013396
A semiconductor device that converts light into an electrical current. When photons strike the photodiode's p-n junction, they create electron-hole pairs, generating a current proportional to the incident light intensity. These devices are commonly used in spectrophotometers and other optical instruments for detecting and quantifying light.
