Photodetrapping
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008845
The process by which charge carriers, previously immobilized in trapping sites within a material, are released into a mobile state through the absorption of photons. This optical excitation provides the energy necessary to overcome the binding energy of the trap. Photodetrapping is a key mechanism in the operation of some photoconductive devices.
