Detector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003080
A device in an analytical instrument that responds to a physical or chemical change and converts it into a measurable signal, typically an electrical current or voltage. In chromatography, detectors sense the presence and quantity of separated components as they exit the column. Common types include flame ionization detectors (FID) for organic compounds and ultraviolet (UV) detectors for chromophores.
