Flame ionization detector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004468
A common detector used in gas chromatography that responds to organic compounds by ionizing them in a hydrogen-air flame. When organic molecules burn, they produce ions and electrons that create a measurable current between two electrodes. This detector is highly sensitive to hydrocarbons and has a wide linear dynamic range.
