Anisotropic

Describing a medium or material whose physical properties, such as thermal conductivity or light absorption, vary with the direction of measurement. In atmospheric science, this often applies to the propagation of electromagnetic waves through the atmosphere. Anisotropic scattering of radiation by ice crystals is a common example.
