Thermal conductivity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009576

A measure of a material's ability to transfer heat through conduction, representing the rate at which heat flows through a unit area under a unit temperature gradient. In atmospheric science, it applies to substances like soil, snow, and ice, influencing ground temperature profiles and heat exchange with the atmosphere. The unit of thermal conductivity is typically watts per meter per Kelvin (W/(m·K)).
