Heat conductivity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006190
A measure of a material's ability to transfer thermal energy through conduction. In the context of the atmosphere and Earth's surface, the heat conductivity of air, soil, and water influences the rate at which heat is exchanged between different layers. Air is a poor conductor of heat, while water and soil have varying conductivities that affect temperature profiles.
