Electrical conductivity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005311

A measure of a material's ability to conduct electric current, defined as the reciprocal of electrical resistivity. It quantifies how easily electric charge can flow through a substance. In the atmosphere, the electrical conductivity of air is influenced by the concentration of ions and aerosols, affecting the global electric circuit and charge dissipation.
