Columnar resistance

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004529

The electrical resistance of a vertical column of air in the atmosphere, representing the integrated effect of atmospheric conductivity from the ground to a certain altitude. This resistance is inversely proportional to the total number of charge carriers in the column. It is a parameter used in studies of the global atmospheric electric circuit.
