Point discharge current
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007997
The electric current generated by the continuous leakage of charge from pointed objects into the atmosphere under the influence of a strong electric field. This current is a measure of the rate at which charge is transferred from the object to the air. It increases significantly as a thunderstorm approaches, providing an indication of atmospheric electrical activity.
