Electrical conductivity

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001266

A measure of a material's ability to conduct electric current, representing the inverse of electrical resistivity. In subsurface formations, conductivity is primarily controlled by the presence of conductive pore fluids, such as saline water, and conductive minerals. It is typically measured in siemens per meter (S/m) and is a key parameter in electromagnetic and resistivity logging.
