Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001267

A corrosion monitoring element, a thin piece of metal mounted in a probe and exposed to the process fluid or soil, whose electrical resistance rises as corrosion thins it. The change in resistance is read by an instrument and converted into metal loss and corrosion rate. The probe is also called an electrical resistance or ER probe, and Corrosometer probes are a well-known example.
