Corrosion coupon

A small, pre-weighed metal strip or disc exposed to the drilling fluid system to monitor the rate of corrosion. After a period of exposure, the coupon is retrieved, cleaned, and re-weighed to determine metal loss. This method provides a direct measurement of the corrosivity of the fluid and the effectiveness of corrosion inhibitors.
