Corrosion fatigue
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000869
A type of material degradation where the combined effects of cyclic stress and a corrosive environment lead to premature failure of metallic components. In enhanced oil recovery (EOR) applications, this can affect drilling and production equipment exposed to both fluctuating loads and corrosive fluids like brine or sour gas. The corrosive environment accelerates crack initiation and propagation under fatigue loading.
