Inhibitor

A chemical additive introduced into a fluid system to prevent or reduce undesirable reactions, such as corrosion, scale formation, or hydrate formation. In well completions, inhibitors protect tubulars and equipment from damage caused by corrosive fluids or mineral deposition. Common types include corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, and hydrate inhibitors.
