Scale inhibitor

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003267

A chemical additive used to prevent the formation and deposition of mineral scales within the wellbore, production tubing, and surface facilities. These inhibitors work by interfering with the crystallization process of scale-forming minerals such as calcium carbonate or barium sulfate. They are typically injected continuously or squeezed into the formation to provide long-term protection.
