1. In hydraulic fracturing, ethylene glycol is used to inhibit the precipitation of sulfate and carbonate salts.
2. In public water supply systems, various phosphate compounds are used to inhibit scale build-up on the distribution pipes.
3. Coating that is applied to the surface of a part prior to thermal processing to inhibit the formation of scale.
