Scale

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003266

A hard, mineral deposit that forms on the internal surfaces of pipes, equipment, and wellbores, often due to changes in temperature, pressure, or fluid composition. Common types of scale in oil and gas operations include calcium carbonate, barium sulfate, and strontium sulfate. Scale buildup can restrict fluid flow, reduce equipment efficiency, and cause blockages.
