Sulfate resistance

The ability of a material, typically cement, to withstand degradation caused by exposure to sulfate ions present in formation water or drilling fluids. Sulfate attack can lead to expansion, cracking, and loss of strength in cement. Cements designed for sulfate resistance contain specific proportions of tricalcium aluminate.
