Resistivity log
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003130
A well log that measures the electrical resistivity of the formation, which is its ability to impede the flow of electric current. Because hydrocarbon-bearing zones have high resistivity and saltwater-bearing zones have low resistivity, this measurement is a primary indicator of fluid content. Resistivity is measured in ohm-meters (ohm.m) and can be recorded by induction tools in non-conductive muds or laterolog tools in conductive muds.
