Thermal constant

A value representing the total amount of heat required to complete a specific biological process, such as the development of an insect from egg to adult. It is often expressed as degree-days, calculated by summing daily mean temperatures above a certain base temperature. This constant is used in agricultural and ecological models to predict growth stages and pest outbreaks.
