Accumulated cooling
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003215
The cumulative reduction in temperature over a specified period, often expressed as degree-days below a certain threshold. This metric quantifies the total cold stress experienced by biological systems or the energy demand for heating. It is calculated by summing the daily differences between a base temperature and the average daily temperature when the latter is lower than the base.
